Cider-Sweet Apple Crisp
Afternoon apple picking, plus tender, cider-sweetened apples topped with brown sugar oat topping.
Autumn is approaching in the Northeast. Slowly the thick blanket of warm summer mornings pulls back to reveal brisk fall air that dances against my skin. It bites just enough to make me wrap my housecoat more closely around me, as I admire the tops of the trees, now becoming shades of red and yellow instead of emerald green.
Mornings in September turn my mind towards Rumi, a 13th-century poet, who once wrote, “Be like the trees and let the dead leaves drop.”
This is the time of year when nature shows us how lovely it is to let go.
