Apple Pie Cinnamon Buns
Fluffy buns are swirled around tender apples, then drizzled with a simple vanilla icing.
I love it when a crazy idea pops into my head and then becomes a reality in my kitchen. For instance, last year I decided to combine an apple crisp with a French toast bake, and then add bourbon to it. The resulting breakfast casserole was sheer decadence and yes I’m sharing that recipe with you later this month.
But today, we’re going kitchen magick apple pie into cinnamon buns. 🍎 ✨
Folks often ask me where I get ideas for new recipes. The inspiration for these rolls came about pretty much like this scene from the movie Hook:
There I was looking at our haul of apples from an orchard visit and lighting done struck my brain.
Right then and there, I decided that I was going to make cinnamon buns that tasted like apple pie. With icing on top, of course.
The result was fluffy rolls filled with tender diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. A simple vanilla icing drizzled on top seals the deal, creating an irresistible treat that is as impressive looking as it is delectable.
Friends, you have to make this recipe. It’s so good.
