🦃 Turkey Challah Bread
Let's use my classic challah recipe to make a loaf of bread shaped like a turkey!
My son started helping me in the kitchen at a very young age, and one of the first things we did together was make bread. Mixing ingredients, kneading dough, and turning it into various kinds of shapes were all perfect activities for little hands.
As a result of these early kitchen experiments, we have a lot of fun bread recipes that are now family traditions. Today, I’m going to share our Thanksgiving bread with you. A loaf of honey-vanilla challah baked in the shape of a turkey. 🦃
Sound complicated? It’s not. Really it all just boils down to dividing your challah dough into balls of various sizes, then using your imagination to put them together into a shape. If you have ever fiddled around with Play-Doh you can make this recipe.
The finished bread is slightly sweet, but not sweet enough to count as a dessert bread. The thing I love about this challah recipe is that it can be enjoyed on its own, topped with sweet spreads like jam, or served with any kind of savory dish.
Everyone will ooo and ahhh when you unveil this gorgeously golden turkey bread at your Thanksgiving dinner! They’re going to wonder how you did it and exclaim how clever you are. Go on, just soak up all the adoration. You deserve it.
